November 12, 2024 Huen Electric’s New Jersey District Recognized for Safety Excellence

700 Federal Boulevard Building B and C Project Given Exclusive Quarterly Safety Award

Huen Electric, Inc.’s (Huen Electric) New Jersey district was recognized for its excellent safety performance on the 700 Federal Boulevard Building B and C project, winning the general contractor’s exclusive quarterly safety award for the second quarter.

The general contractor, Structure Tone, hands out four safety awards per year (one in each quarter), selecting just a single contractor from all of its projects, which includes 60 job sites and roughly 600 total subcontractors spread across $500 million worth of work.

Standing out from the other hundreds of subcontractors and winning the safety award is a rare and well-earned accomplishment.

“The crew on this project deserves all the credit. Every time I visit the site, they’re doing what they’re supposed to, and any time they need guidance on how to handle a situation safely, they ask for assistance,” Huen Electric Safety Manager Tim Missel said. “It’s been a true team effort to keep everyone safe. Great work everyone!”

When selecting a contractor for the quarterly safety award, Structure Tone takes every aspect of health and safety into consideration.

Huen Electric stood out by the attention to detail it gave in daily safety documents, its consistent and appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), its exceptional safety incident rate, and the frequency of toolbox talks. It also performed well during site safety audits and routinely had safety personnel visit the job site to work with the crew to proactively identify and solve safety hazards, keeping the entire job site and other subcontractors safe.

Huen Electric New Jersey District Manager Jim Zelenka said the award was made possible by the daily dedication and commitment of each team member, and from the leadership of the project’s inside electrical foreman, Scott Moorman. “The award is a credit to Scott and the entire crew on site for their hard work ethic and dedication to being safe every day on a very busy job site,” Zelenka said.
